Finding the Photograph Within the Snapshot

Albert Alexander David is a photographer and writer from Tucson, Arizona. Introduced to film photography as a freshman in high school, he took to it instantly and thought he had found his niche. Familiar to many but actually accepted by few, in addition to being a die-hard introvert, Albert had always found himself "on the outside looking in." Consequently, being behind the viewfinder of a camera came very naturally to him--as well as a very comfortable place to be. Unfortunately, circumstances and financial constraints at the time prevented any serious pursuit of photography as a career, so he focused on his studies and on his writing instead.

This changed with the advent of digital photography and with the advancement of camera technology in general. He discovered the ability to edit images on the spot, and began using this tool to express what he was seeing without words, essentially finding the photograph that tended to hide within a snapshot. It was this ability that rekindled his love of photography and opened up an entirely new world to him--of capturing people, places, and his particular point of view about what he was observing all around him. At last, he was able to realize that niche he had stumbled upon so long ago. He was finally able to find his voice, as well as that acceptance, that had been hiding within his viewfinder all along.
